Quilt completed!

After several weeks of cutting and sewing I have finally gotten the batting and the backing on Ellie’s quilt and I think it turned out pretty good for a first time at a big quilt. I was lucky to chat with a guy at the fabric store who pointed me to a batting that won’t pull apart and that wasn’t too heavy. The material that I used for the blanket is flannel so a heavy batting would have made the blanket too warm. I still think I will need to tie some areas on it (since quilting sections would be difficult, but I can complete that later. I was lucky to have enough small pieces from trimming to make a matching pillow, so now all I really need is to paint her room and to get her some pink pillow cases.

As you can see she has already started playing on it! I chose a for the backing a pink that matches her blanket so it looks really cute. the room will be painted a really pale pink. I can’t wait for her room to reflect a little girl instead of a hodgepodge which it has since the crib came down.
